Overview

The following video provides an overview of how to schedule a sleepover support in Astalty.

Sleepover supports may be scheduled in a variety of scenarios, such as:

  • In-Home Supports

  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) Supports

  • Respite

Billing Sleepover Supports

  • For In-home supports, you may wish to use the relevant Charge Item Set so the correct NDIS line items are applied when billing.

  • For Respite or SIL supports, you may choose to use Direct Charges instead.

For more information on how to set up and use direct charges, see: Direct Charges Guide

Sleepover Duration Warning

Astalty shows a warning when a sleepover support is scheduled for longer than the standard sleepover period. This helps catch potential rostering mistakes before the shift is saved, and prevents the entire shift from being incorrectly charged or paid as a sleepover allowance when part of it should be treated as active support.

For example, on a 12-hour sleepover support, the warning will read:

This support is 12 hours long. All hours will be charged and paid as a sleepover allowance. If this shift includes active support before or after the sleepover period, consider creating separate supports for those hours.

If the warning appears, review the sleepover start and end times to make sure they're correct. If the shift includes active support either side of the sleepover, please create separate supports for those active hours so they are charged and paid correctly. If the duration is intentional and the entire shift should be treated as a sleepover allowance, you can continue without changes.

This small check helps improve roster accuracy and reduces issues later with billing and payroll — particularly by preventing active support hours from being scheduled inside a sleepover and unintentionally paid out as a sleepover allowance.
