Rejecting Expressions of Interest
Overview
When Support Workers express interest in a broadcast on the Shift Board, you can reject an expression of interest (EOI) you don't want to approve — and record a reason the worker will see.
Rejecting an EOI:
- Notifies the worker with your reason.
- Stops that worker from expressing interest in the same broadcast again.
- Returns the shift to Broadcasting automatically if no other interest remains, so it stays visible to other workers.
Rejecting a Single Expression of Interest
- Open Scheduling → Shift Board and click into the relevant broadcasted shift.
- In the Broadcasts section, find the worker whose expression of interest you want to reject.
- Open the row's actions menu and select Reject.
- Enter a reason for the rejection. This is the message the worker receives, so make it clear.
- Click Reject.
What happens after rejecting
- The worker receives a notification: "Your expression of interest was not successful," along with the reason you entered.
- The worker cannot re-express interest in that broadcast.
- If the rejected worker was the only interest on the broadcast, the shift returns to Broadcasting so other selected workers can still express interest.
- The broadcast row shows a Rejected at timestamp, who rejected it, and the reason.
Bulk Rejecting Expressions of Interest with Award Alerts
If you use Award Alerts, you can reject multiple expressions of interest at once instead of one at a time.
- Open the broadcasted shift on the Shift Board.
- In the Broadcasts section, open the Actions menu and select Reject Expressions of Interest.
- Astalty pre-selects every worker whose expression of interest has an award alert, so you can reject them all in one action. Adjust the selection with the checkboxes or search if you only want to reject some.
- Enter a single rejection reason to send to all selected workers.
- Click Reject to confirm.
Tracking Rejections
On a broadcast's Broadcasts table you can:
- See the Rejected at column showing when an EOI was rejected, by whom, and the recorded reason.
- Apply the Rejected filter to show only rejected expressions of interest.
Filtering the Shift Board by Date
The Shift Board list has a Date filter that works the same way as the one on Unassigned Shifts. Use it to narrow the board to shifts starting within a chosen date range (including quick presets such as This and Next period), alongside the existing Status and Archived filters. You can also sort the list by Shift Start Time.
On the Support Worker App
Rejections are reflected in the Support Worker app:
- A rejected shift shows a Rejected badge on the worker's Shift Board.
- The worker receives a push notification with the rejection reason and can tap through to the broadcast.
- The worker cannot re-express interest in that broadcast.
For the worker's view of the Shift Board, see Shift Board — Support Worker App.
