Astalty is actively building AI functionality into the platform. This includes:

• the Astalty MCP server (coming soon), which will let AI assistants work with your Astalty data on your behalf
• Astalty Support, the AI assistant behind the Support button in Astalty, which answers your questions without leaving the app
• other AI features built directly into Astalty, such as Ask Astalty
• the AI chat in this user guide, which answers questions about how Astalty works

Where is my data processed when I use AI features?

Astalty runs every AI model on AWS Bedrock, Amazon's AI service. Your account's AI region decides where Bedrock processes requests from the AI features built into Astalty:

Astalty Support and the AI chat in this user guide always run in Australia, whichever AI region your account is on.

Only the processing can happen overseas. What AI features save in Astalty, such as your Ask Astalty conversations, is stored in Australia with the rest of your data.

The Astalty MCP server works differently: it passes your data to the AI assistant you connect, which handles it under that provider's own terms.

How do I keep AI processing in Australia?

Email support@astalty.com.au and ask for Australia only. Astalty switches your account for you; there is no setting to change it yourself. The same email switches it back to Global.

After switching to Australia only, new AI requests are processed in Australia. An Ask Astalty conversation started before that switch can't be continued, so start a new one.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Bedrock never shares your data with the companies that build the models, such as Anthropic and OpenAI, and never uses it to train them. The models are provided to Astalty as a service: they read your request, return an answer, and keep nothing.

Astalty avoids models that require your data to be retained as a condition of use, even temporarily. Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 is one example.

How is my data kept secure?

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, using keys Astalty controls through AWS Key Management Service (KMS).

Requests travel from Astalty to Bedrock in Sydney over private connectivity inside AWS (AWS PrivateLink), not across the public internet. On Global, Bedrock may then pass a request to another AWS region. It stays on AWS's own network and is encrypted between regions.

Will this always be the case?

AI is a fast-moving area, and the models behind these features will change. Whichever model runs, it runs on AWS Bedrock and follows your AI region.

If Astalty ever uses an AI provider other than AWS Bedrock, this page will say so before it does.
