AI Privacy
Astalty is actively building AI functionality into the platform. This includes:
- the Astalty MCP server (coming soon), which will let AI assistants work with your Astalty data on your behalf
- the Support Assistant in Astalty, which answers your questions without leaving the app
- other AI features built directly into Astalty
- the AI chat in this user guide, which answers questions about how Astalty works
Where is my data processed when I use AI features?
In our production environment, AI requests are handled by models running on AWS Bedrock in the Sydney region. Your AI conversations stay within our own infrastructure and within Australia, in the same way as the rest of your data.
We also deliberately avoid AI models that require your data to be retained, even temporarily, as a condition of use — for example, Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 model.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Bedrock never shares your data with the companies that build the models, and never uses it to train them. The models are provided to us as a service: they read your request, return an answer, and keep nothing.
How is my data kept secure?
Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest, using keys we control through AWS Key Management Service (KMS). Requests travel to Bedrock over private connectivity inside AWS (AWS PrivateLink) rather than across the public internet, so your information stays within our own environment from end to end.
Will this always be the case?
AI is a fast-moving area, and the way we deliver these features may change over time.
If we ever begin using a third party AI provider outside of this arrangement, we will let you know before we do. You will have the choice to opt in, and your data will not be processed by that provider unless you have.
