## Overview

Use User Notes to keep internal information about a staff member on their profile.

To keep User Notes confidential, Admins need permission to view HR details to open another user's notes, and to manage HR details to add or edit them, see [Updating Roles and Permissions](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/roles-and-permissions).

## How to Add a User Note

1. Navigate to the [**Users**](https://app.astalty.com.au/users) menu.
2. Select the **staff member** you want to add a note for.
3. Open the **Notes** section within the user profile.
4. Click **Add Note**.
5. Enter the relevant information. The note saves as you type - click **Close** when you are done.

The note will then be stored within the staff member's profile.

### Using Note Templates

To ensure consistent and structured information is recorded, you can create and use **Note Templates**. Templates help standardise the type of details captured in notes.

Alternatively, you can create a **blank note** if the information does not require a predefined format.

For more information, see the **[Note Templates Guide](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/settings/tasks-notes-settings/note-templates)**.

## Accessing User Notes

User Notes are stored within each staff member's profile and can be accessed through the **Users** menu.

2. Select the relevant **staff member**.
3. Open the **Notes** section within the user profile.

All notes associated with that staff member will be displayed here.
