# Adding Claim References to Invoices

> Show each charge's claim reference on plan-managed invoices and accounting exports.

## What is a "Claim Reference"?

Each charge created in Astalty has its own claim reference. It helps distinguish charges that otherwise look the same, such as two charges on the same day for the same Charge Item.

## Showing the Claim Reference on invoices

The **Include the claim reference for each item on the invoice** setting controls whether claim references appear on plan-managed invoice PDFs. It does not add them to self-managed or NDIA-managed invoice PDFs.

When the setting is on, Astalty also appends the claim reference to the line description sent to a connected accounting platform.

New accounts start with this setting on. To review or change it:

1. Open [Settings > Invoices](https://app.astalty.com.au/settings/invoices).
2. On the **Invoice Settings** card, click **Edit**.

When selected, each eligible line shows the claim reference for its underlying charge.
