## Overview

The **Notes** page on a [Participant's profile](https://app.astalty.com.au/participants) brings together the Notes you can access for that Participant.

In Astalty you can add Notes in several places such as;

- a Plan
- on a Participant's profile
- within a Task
- within an Implementation
- automatically generated by an alert

The page brings together Notes from across the Participant's record, regardless of where they were created. Which Notes you see still follows your role, permissions, and case note visibility settings.

## Adding Notes to a Participant

On the Notes page there is an *Add Note* button however **this is rarely used.** Most of the time, Note should be created within a Task. Usually the only time a Note should be added directly to a profile is if it's a note from your previous system.

## Attaching Files to a Note

Once a Note has been saved, you can attach files to it. Click the **Upload Documents** button at the bottom of the Note, then click to browse files from your computer or drag and drop them into the upload area. Attached files appear as a chip under the Note, where you can view, download, or delete them.

See [Adding Documents to a Task](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/tasks/task-documents) for the accepted file types and size limit - the same Upload Documents experience applies here.

> **Attaching from the Support Worker app**
>
> Support Workers can also attach photos and files to a case note directly from the app. See [Case Noting in the App](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/scheduling/support-worker-app/during-a-shift/case-noting-in-the-app).

## Searching Participant Notes

Enter a keyword in the search field to search all Notes. Astalty highlights matching words in yellow.

The table opens showing Notes of every type. Add the **Note Type** filter to show only **Profile**, **Task** or **Support** Notes. When Participant filters are enabled, **Created by** filters Notes by one or more team members.

## Editing Notes

The **Edit Note** action is available for Profile Notes and editable Support or Group Support Notes. Task Notes and other disabled entries must be edited from the Task or item where they were created.

## Note Revisions

Open the 3-dot menu beside a Note and select **View Revisions**. By default, only Admins and Managers can view revisions.

## Deleting Notes

Notes cannot be deleted unless your Account Owner has turned on **Case Note Deletion** in **Settings > Data Management**. Once it is on, an eligible Note shows **Delete Note** unless its editability or clock-out lock blocks it. Deletion removes the Note and all of its revisions permanently.

> **Deleting a note cannot be undone**
>
> See [Deleting Case Notes](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/settings/data-management/deleting-case-notes) for who can delete a note, what else gets removed with it, and why editing is usually the better option.
