# Managing your subscription

> Manage your Astalty subscription from the Billing page.

Once you have [subscribed to Astalty](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/billing/how-to-subscribe-to-astalty), the **Account Owner** can manage the subscription from the [Billing page](https://app.astalty.com.au/billing). Other Admin users do not have Billing access.

## Paying Your Astalty Invoices

Your Astalty invoices, including overdue or backdated invoices, are on the
[Billing > Invoices](https://app.astalty.com.au/billing/invoices) page. Failed or unpaid invoices
are listed under **Open & Unpaid Invoices**. The complete invoice list is under **Previous Invoices**.

For a card invoice, select **Pay Now**, confirm **Pay**, and Astalty charges the default card. If the card needs changing, complete [Updating Your Payment Method](#updating-your-payment-method) first. For a bank transfer invoice, **Pay Now** opens Stripe's hosted invoice, where the bank account and payment instructions are displayed.

> **Not the same as the Invoices page under Finance**
>
> **Finance > Invoices** holds the invoices you issue to Plan Managers and Participants for
> supports you have delivered. Your own subscription invoices are only ever under **Billing**, and
> **Mark as Paid** on the Finance page has nothing to do with paying Astalty.

## Updating Your Payment Method

You may need to update a card because it has expired, is no longer available or the account should use a different card.

Open [Billing > Payment Methods](https://app.astalty.com.au/billing/payment-methods).

The page lists your current payment methods and marks the default one.

### Step 1: Add the New Payment Method

Select **Add Card**, enter the new card details, and leave **Set as default payment method** selected if the card should be used immediately. Select **Add Payment Method** to save it.

### Step 2: Update Your Default Payment Method

If the card was not made default when added, open its actions menu and select **Make Default**. The default card cannot be selected again.

### Step 3: Remove Your Old Payment Method

Open the old card's actions menu and select **Delete**. Astalty does not allow deletion of the default card or the only saved card, so add and select the replacement first.

If bank transfer is enabled for the account, this page also shows the current **Payment Method** and either **Switch to Bank Transfer** or **Switch to Card Payment**. Bank transfer is account-dependent; contact support if the option is not shown.

## Updating the Billing Contact

The billing contact receives Astalty subscription invoices and receipts. Open [Billing > Invoices](https://app.astalty.com.au/billing/invoices), select **Edit** on the **Billing Contact** card, update **Email**, then select **Update**.

> **Transferring account ownership does not always update this**
>
> When you [transfer account ownership](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/users/updating-the-account-owner), the billing contact changes automatically only if it matched the previous owner's email. If it was a different address, it stays the same. Update it here if invoices need to go to the new owner.

## Updating Your Subscription

An active monthly Premium subscription shows **Switch to Annual** on Billing Overview. Select it to open **Update Subscription**.

Review the current and new plan, every subscription line item, the amount due and its due date. The preview states whether an amount is due today or on a future date and shows any credit. Add a card if there is no default card, then confirm the update.

Astalty does not allow an Account Owner to change an annual subscription back to monthly from this page. Contact <support@astalty.com.au> if you need to discuss that change. A tier and billing period also cannot be changed in the same request.

## Cancelling Your Subscription

You can contact <support@astalty.com.au> before cancelling if you need help with the account or subscription.

Before you cancel your subscription, consider exporting your data. Follow the [Exports guide](https://docs.astalty.com.au/guide/exports) to generate the files you need.

On Billing Overview, select **Cancel Subscription** beside the current plan. Some Billing layouts label the action **Cancel**. Astalty opens the **Downgrade** page. Review which paid features will end, enter a **Cancellation Reason**, then select **Downgrade**.

The paid plan remains available until the end of the current billing period. The account then moves to Astalty Lite and the paid subscription does not renew. Billing Overview shows the subscription ending date after the downgrade is scheduled.
